Character Name: Segawa Keiichi. Alignment: Neutral. Special powers: None/unknown. |
Pre-X History: Presumably, Keiichi led a normal life prior to 1999, living with his parents in Ikebukuro, near the Sunshine 60 building. He grew up an only child, who attended (and continues to attend) CLAMP Academy, and he became the current class rep for his class at some point, so it's likely that he is used to being a consistently diligent student, who can handle extra duties. Canon X History: As a minor neutral character, Keiichi doesn't appear to be in any way directly involved with the battle in Tokyo. His role is that of a classmate of Kamui's, as well as someone not entangled in the End of the World business, who tries to become friends with Kamui. Keiichi's first appearance is in volume eleven of the X manga, where he pops up at school, beaming at Kamui and greeting him enthusiastically. Following that, he proceeds to fill Kamui in on various school-related things that might be worth being prepared for in advance, and ends the (somewhat one-sided) conversation with an invitation for Kamui to have lunch with him, barely giving the other boy a chance to really respond to anything Keiichi is telling him. Shortly after that, Keiichi receives a task he needs to carry out as the class rep – picking up some handouts – but before focusing on that, he makes sure to remind Kamui that they're going to have lunch together later. Around lunchtime, Keiichi ends up bursting in on Kamui and Subaru, for which he apologizes, prior to heading off to lunch with Kamui. While they're having lunch, Keiichi invites Kamui to visit him at home sometime and also offers to tutor him. Suddenly, an earthquake strikes. Keiichi promptly throws himself on top of Kamui and tackles him to the ground in an attempt to shield him. Apparently Keiichi really doesn't like earthquakes. Kamui's visit to Keiichi's house takes place fairly soon. Keiichi introduces him to his mother and, during dinner, reveals a more detailed reason for his dislike of earthquakes – his father recently died in the Nakano 'earthquake'. Seeing that Kamui looks upset, Keiichi hastens to assure him that he and his mother are fine now and have decided to go on together. Later that night, when Keiichi is accompanying Kamui to the station, another earthquake strikes, this time because of the attack on the Sunshine 60. Keiichi immediately tries to shield Kamui again, but Kamui runs off, telling him to go check on his mother. Unfortunately, when Keiichi gets back to his house, it's too late. His mother loses her life in the Ikebukuro incident and Keiichi goes to stay at the school dorms, since his house has been destroyed as well. Keiichi isn't seen again until volume fourteen. While Kamui was absent from school for some time, after the Shinjuku earthquake, Keiichi had been approaching Subaru to ask about his friend on a regular basis. He is relieved when he finally sees Kamui again. After fussing over his friend a little, Keiichi elaborates on his opinion of earthquakes, telling Kamui that he wishes he had the power to stop them. This seems to be Keiichi's final appearance so far. |
What stands out about Keiichi is his customary cheerfulness. Even bad or painful experiences don't seem to change his ability to view things with an optimistic outlook; although he will acknowledge negative feelings such as sadness or frustration, for instance, he's quick to bounce back and keep going. His attitude towards life seems to be that it wouldn't help anyone to remain unhappy when bad things happen, so it's better to continue living normally. Most of the time, he's seen with a smile on his face, and he tends to be energetic and enthusiastic to the point of being almost overwhelmingly so. That's not to say that he can't be serious when the situation calls for it, though. A friendly person, Keiichi tries to be helpful and do what he can for the people he cares about. |
Although Keiichi hasn't been shown in colour, it is generally assumed that his hair is blond. It's fairly short and a little tousled and wavy, particularly at the front. His eyebrows seem to be darker than the rest of his hair. He has the stature and build of an average CLAMP youth of the non-'supposedly-uke-screaming' variety – relatively tall, with a narrow waist and broad shoulders. Keiichi is normally seen wearing his school uniform, which consists of a short-sleeved white shirt with buttons, worn with a black tie, and black trousers in summer. One of Keiichi's distinguishing features is the bright smile he is rarely seen without. |
